Description
The social media specialist collaborates closely with the social media team to execute social media strategies on assigned clients, including day-to-day social media tactics and bigger-picture social projects and recommendations. In some cases, they serve as the point person on assigned clients and social media campaigns, developing and executing organic tactics across multiple social channels.
This person should be located in the Kansas City area. They will have the opportunity to work a self-managed hybrid schedule, which includes working in the office at least once per week to fulfill prizes and participating in off-site content production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy:
- Create and execute social media strategies for new or existing channels.
- Collaborate on development of organic growth opportunities for assigned clients, proactively elevating community insights and identifying strategies and tactics to meet objectives.
- Stay up to date on social media trends, tools, tactics and platforms as well as developments in our clients’ industries; share this knowledge freely with clients and internal resources, including developing and presenting materials.
- Recommend new types of content, tactics, platforms or strategies to best reach target audiences or engage brand fans.
- Participate in creative brainstorming sessions.
Social Media Management:
- Write social media posts for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Pinterest and other platforms.
- Schedule posts natively and via third-party platforms.
- Conduct community management, issues management and crisis communications tactics for assigned clients.
- Support influencer marketing efforts, including developing content, tracking partner posts and documenting influencer requests.
- Execute ongoing social media promotions, contests and fan engagement strategies.
- Conduct social listening to identify content opportunities and audience insights to share with internal teams and clients.
- Concept and recommend graphics, videos, ads and other social media assets, collaborating with and providing direction to creative teams to aid in their development.
- Plan, film and produce engaging short-form video content by developing concepts, creating shot lists, sourcing props and coordinating with social and creative teams to ensure seamless execution.
Account Service / Project Management:
- Have direct contact with assigned clients as needed, including video, phone and email communication.
- Collaborate with account service and project management teams to develop timing on social media projects.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Organic social media management on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other social media platforms
- Experience with social media management tools, such as Sprout Social, Facebook Business Manager, Pinterest Analytics, etc.
- Knowledge of the pet industry is a plus.

Education/Experience/Certification(s):
- B.A. or B.S. in journalism, communications, English or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in social media marketing.
